Thanks for the heads-up, but I'm just a tiny bit confused. If I'm interpreting accurately what I've been reading in some historical forum threads (Yeah, I know, right?), then do I need to care? What I'm running now (Debian Wheezy) is actually older than Salix's 14.1 release.

Maybe I hallucinated it, but I have a distinct recollection of reading somewhere hereabouts that older releases receive security patches for "as long as possible," which is all I really worry about.

Or did I misunderstand?

14.1 still receives security updates, but for a new installation, I'd use 14.2 and install Fluxbox (or any one of numerous light WMs) from the repositories. There are probably still people out there perfectly happily using 13.37, but I doubt anyone installs it.

When you log in, you can choose which installed WM to use. It may be best not to make it the default till you have it working to your satisfaction.
