differences Salix and Slackware on low level

I`d like to understand haw Salix is created.
I`d like to find out about differences Salix and Slackware on low level.
I know is slapt-get, slkbuild but i can not understand main aim this project.
There is a very small article in wiki about it

I like approach which Salix takes but it seems to me something not enough. Maybe is not enough main aim or I can not find it?
