My Salix 14.1 fluxbox desktop

Post by jsfarinet »

Just to give a feedback for all your engagement to help me out (still remaining some problems though, but the essential is done).

Image

Fluxbox compiled to use imlib2
Fluxbox style: Shiki-Statler (with some pixmaps adaptions made by me)
GTK Theme Boje-Blue (because nice dark and supports gtk2 and gtk3)
IconTheme: mate-brave as default and nuoveKDEGray
Conky conkyrc as an adaption of the #crunchbang default
Conky weatherapp following the advices of TeoBigusGeekus (on #crunchbang)

A lot fancier/busier than mine. But looks cool to me.

Enjoy the ride.

Yes, looks nice. Usually dark themes have trouble with office apps (like libreoffice) because they invert colours everywhere, including the page colour which becomes black. How does this one handle this?

So far, i usually use Abiword and there all is fine. There is only one situation where there is a problem and that's in Firefox in one specific site where the textinput is displayed in plack on a grey background, which is ugly for the little contrast. But otherwise, it seems, for the little i'm doing, all fine.

For the rest, for me personally a fluxbox (and also sincerely an openbox) standalone desktop is fine because i neither need nor i like desktop icons. I prefer fluxbox because of its way to be configured (but may be that's about taste) and for its built-in transparency options (which i widely use). What i forgot to say i also use compton with following '.compton.conf' (the base i got from some wiki, do not remember anymore which, may be debian):

Code: Select all

shadow = true; # Enabled client-side shadows on windows.
no-dock-shadow = true; # Avoid drawing shadows on dock/panel windows.
no-dnd-shadow = true; # Don't draw shadows on DND windows.

Finally, you see, your big effort in helping me out with the starting problems in some way gave some kind of a result ;-)

Thanks again for that! :D
