Parole asks to install additional software and does nothing

For example, it needs a H.264 decoder to play a file, so it opens a dialog and asks to install or not, but when selecting the "Install" option nothing seem to happen. Note that I have not installed the multimedia codecs.

Running: Salix OS 14.1, 32-bit XFCE-Edition.

You need to use the distribution's packages for the codecs, not Parole's installation dialogue. That doesn't mean you have to install them using the 'install multimedia codecs' tool provided by Salix - they are in the repositories like any other individual packages. However, it might be easier.
