[Solved] mouse theme changes do not persist

Hi Salixers,

I very much like my Salix OS but some things I am not so font of:
the default cursor is awful to my taste.

I like (and always liked) de classic KDE mouse pointer (i think it was a default on Zenwalk)

I can change it within KDE;but falls back to default when I restart?
no option (a pity) within xfce for this theme?

How can I make a persistent change?
Use btw KDE/openbox;
ohter question is:is it possible within KDE to force the root menu of openbox on the desktop wth right click? or a menu of all open apps on all desktops with middle click?

Thanx

Marcel

Hello emgee_1,

I only use XFCE, so I can't answer your specific KDE questions, but I hope that this helps.
I also prefer the Fedora mouse theme and I found a version on xfce-look.org. The theme is called Bluecurve-FC6. I downloaded the theme and extracted it to /usr/share/icons. I then deleted the existing symlink called default in the /usr/share/icons directory (rm default) and re-created it pointing to the new Bluecurve directory (ln -s /usr/share/icons/Bluecurve-FC6 /usr/share/icons/default). I then logged out and back in and my new theme was used straight away.

There may be a better or more elegant way to do this, but the above worked for me.

I don't know about KDE, but what JohnS wrote is right!

I'm confused: KDE uses it's own mouse theme here. And of cource it's possible to change it in KDE systemsettings :?

JohnS tip worked fine (I had already a kdeclassic theme due to KDE install)
And as usual Gapan was right!
I think the nonpersistency has something to do with openbox being my windowmanager in KDE

If I choose KDEclassic as theme for the mouse and I log out and in again
I have an obsidean cursor (while default-KDE is pointing to classic) Hmm.

For me this is now solved.

Thanx a lot my Salix friends

Greetings

marcel

An answer provided more than 9 years ago nonetheless!
