Can not play audio CD
Re: Can not play audio CD
Time does not move on. Running the programs as root (with sudo), does not change the behaviour.
Re: Can not play audio CD
I confirm. cdda-player, workbone, dcd cannot play audio cd's.
As i said in previous post use parole or vlc or smplayer or mplayer.

Re: Can not play audio CD
Yes, I could use mplayer or vlc, but it is not really what I want. I want something that just plays CD's, not necessarily a dockapp, but something like it. Just play, or choose track and play. I had something like that in OS/2 and used it a lot.
Maybe it would be a good idea to remove dcd, grip2 etc from the repositories?

Re: Can not play audio CD
Just a thought, but maybe when playing audio cd, these players require an analog cable between your CD player and your sound card. Maybe they can't do digital extraction.
“Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought?"
Re: Can not play audio CD
That is a possible. I have not checked if there is a cable or if I could connect one, but it would explain the connection error.
Anyway, I give up on this. It is not a simple way to play a CD, and that is what I wanted to do. Thanks for your advice!
