interesting, i use vlc so never noticed this, here is the message:
copy/pasted a link from youtube:
"Additional Software Required
Parole needs text/html decoder to play this file.
It can be installed automatically."
Click install and nothing happens, strange it seems to be a bug going back to 2013, as Xubuntu users were looking for a solution as well.
Issue with Parole [SOLVED]
Re: Issue with Parole
I installed all the suggested libraries. Nothing changed. I still have this problem. In Xubuntu as someone reported it, it was solved thanks to libgnomevfs2-extra but that library doesn't exist in Slackware.mimosa wrote:Maybe this:

That is, try installing the "optional dependencies" listed here:
https://slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds/14. ... bad/README
https://slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds/14. ... gly/README
It's probably a long shot though. It may be that Parole would need to be rebuilt with this functionality, even if everything needed were present.
Best regards,
Serge
Re: [SOLVED]Issue with Parole
I don't mind too much as I have other multimedia players and there is a workaround by downloading the video with youtube-dl.gapan wrote:Parole does not support youtube links. VLC and smplayer do.
I will edit the line of the subject as solved but it is a limitation of Parole which is the media player installed by default in Salix.
Perhaps it would be better to have another default choice !
Best regards,
Serge

For this to work, it has to be the original post, not the most recent one. I have done it for you this time.I will edit the line of the subject as solved
