Information about Salix

Post by linuxpeer »

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a website that's a mix between distrowatch.com and linuxtracker.org.

I've been trying to find as much information about Salix, to fill out its page on my website, linuxpeer.org.

- Do you have a logo in transparent PNG I can use?
- Which desktop environments are available?
- What is the official name? Salix or Salix OS?
- A list of releases?
- Anything else I might have forgotten?

I have added some of the screenshots from your website to the page. I hope that is okay.

It is also possible for an endorsed user from Salix to help keep the page up-to-date, if that's of any interest.

Thank you for your time :)

Thanks for your interest!

Most of the information you request can be found on the website (for example, some of the DEs you mention don't exist as separate versions for the latest release, as you can see from the download page).

I'm not sure about the logo, though you are welcome to use anything that's on the site. Perhaps someone else can help?

You can find some logos here:

Currently the only edition that is available is Xfce. Many other environments are available after installation of course.

You can use Salix as the official name. It doesn't really matter though.

Major releases are same as with slackware since 13.0:
- 13.0 (2009)
- 13.1 (2010)
- 13.37 (2011)
- 14.0 (2012)
- 14.1 (2014)
- 14.2 (2016)
There were some minor releases in between those too. I guess you'll find them by going through the announcements section in the forum.
