Broadcom Wireless turned off after 14.2 install

Post by laplume »

Hello all,

I am currently running Salix 14.0 on an old HP6720S laptop which runs just fine. Wlan0 is using following device:

Code: Select all

10:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11a/b/g (rev 02)
Since apparently Firefox will 60 is not likley to work in this release I installed Salix 14.2. Everyting was fine, I installed b43-fwcutter and b43-firmware packages (which I got using Slackbuilds of 14.0 release) and rebooted. But, to my surprise, wireless was turned off at reboot.
Are there any particular modifications/tweaks I have to do in order to get this wireless working?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Antonio

Why did you use the slackbuilds from 14.0 and not the ones from 14.2?

Hello Gapan,
honestly didn't think much about that, since it was dealing with installing firmware and installation of packages didn't give any problems.
Anyhow, I will try with the 14.2 Slackbuilds and will let you know how it turns out.
