What is your Graphics Card/Chip
Just would like to add to the Database.
I only had xscreensaver lockups on my i915 module and then only when the Random 3D screensavers were being used. Seems if I chose One single screen saver then all went fine.
What were your Experiences?

Correct, same here, crash only when set to random screen saver. None when set to
only one screen saver.

Just checked some more: if I go to Settings>Advanced-Visual the window shows "GL". If I
set it to "Best" no crash within Random mode.

I don't know. I never had a problem myself using either setting so I cannot confirm anything. But it's quite possible that was the culprit after all.

Are you testing against the i915 video, we are. I believe that these problems show up in combination with the i915 video. What do you think?

Yes, but I have found out that not e very i915 is like every other i915. Even if they have the exact same lspci output.

May be we should ask djemos how he does it. I have Slackel installed on same machine, same
hard drive as Salix and I do not get the crashes with xscreensaver.

I tried now in Salix the Slackel kernel it makes no difference, xscreensaver crashes.

He does it by using slackware current. Different kernel, different xorg, different drivers, different everything.

I installed the xscreensaver-5.21 from Slackel run it twice for one hour
and once for 2 hours all with 3 minute cycles. No crash at all.

Re-installed Salix current xscreensaver-5.15 and crash on first try.
