Re: Salix Fluxbox beta rc1: No screen auto-resize in Virtual

meanpt wrote:For betas 1 and 2, the trick for having a full-screen display at 1024x768 was to shutdown and boot after the installation of the guest additions. A simple restart/rebooting without a complete shutdown wouldn't work. With this rc1 not even this trick works and the only screen available is still the 800x600. This is the first Salix that can't make it right. What's causing this?

Hi, I manage to solve this after rewinding a mental movie. With betas 1 and 2 the screen auto-resize was activated after a full shutdown and not with a simple restart. For shutting down I had to logout first to the login screen an then ask for a shutdown. With beta 1, a direct shutdown option was made available through the desktop menu, without the need to go through the login menu as before. This was the difference. Already in beta 1, after booting to the desktop, I logged out to the loggin screen, logged in again to a session and voilà, the full screen display was back.

Just installed salix-fluxbox RC1 "basic" and dotnew does not appear in the menu but it is installed, also salix-update-notifier is setup to run in the background in ~/.fluxbox/startup but salix-update-notifier is not installed in the basic installation.

So, here is the 13.1.2RC2 iso:

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/projec ... 1.2RC2.iso

The few minor problems that have been found in RC1 have been fixed.
There was also one last minute change in the application selection with
volti replacing aumix as the default audio mixer application. This same
iso will most probably be officially released as 13.1.2 final in a few
days if no other problems will be found, together with a 64bit version.
Any last minute testing reports are more than welcome.

Salix Fluxbox edition RC2 Installation error

Post by meanpt »

Downloaded the iso image twice and the error is still occurring:

Installpkg error #2
There was a fatal error attempting to install a2ps-4.14-i486-3.txz. The package may be corrupt, the installation media may be bad, or something else has caused the package to be unable to read without error. You may hit enter to continue if you wish, but if this is an important required package then your installation may not work as-is.

Yes, I just tried it too and I had the same error. There are more errors like this later. Probably an error with uploading? Kerd?

OK, so here is RC3. This is exactly what RC2 was supposed to be, only this time it got uploaded properly.

Get it from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/salix/f ... o/download
md5sum is: 4a4bc53e50abe624560fd5a5fefaa080

So, hopefully, this one is the one that is probably going to be the final iso,
