Preparing for the final release, RC1 images for Salix MATE 13.37 are now available. There have mostly been only minor changes since the beta1 release. Here's a list:
* a new media thumbnailer for caja has been developed, using the included whaaw media player
* the British flag should now show up properly in the keyboard applet
* gnome-colors-icon-theme has been forked to mate-colors-icon-theme with many mate-specific icons being themed now. Only the mate-colors-icon-theme is installed by default now.
* mate-themes now depends on the new mate-colors-icon-theme
* user xdg directories are now being created when a user first logs in.
* the non-functioning themes page has been removed from mate-volume-control application
* mozilla-firefox and the flash plugin have been upgraded to the latest versions available.

You can download the iso images from Sourceforge:

Great.

You can test it with the salix-remote-installer ;)

Installed, and configured, no problems so far...

PS
I'm using mate-salix from the day it was announced, and this is one
of the best desktop I ever had.

There is a small bug. If the very first thing you do is launch the dictionary, it will refuse to launch because of a missing ~/.mate2 directory. If you launch something else that will automatically create that directory first or if you create it manually, the dictionary will work properly. Lucky I spotted this one.

Panel applets are changing their places after reboot.

I have added a system monitor, a wheather applet, CPU monitor applet (2 applet for dual core CPU) to the left side of the systray, I defined keyboard layouts also.

- After a few reboots the clock, systray and the above mentioned applets are totally different order in which I left.
- it happened after a few reboots after I configured the panel, not after the first reboot after I configured
- one of the CPU freq. monitor is disappeared

Note, that "applet rearranging" happens on slackware-current + salix-MATE also, but I ignored this problem, because it is a slackware-current with other
modifications.

Just FWIW, I used to get the applets rearranging thing with Gnome 2. That is an old, old bug.

Strange I have not not seen it under debian-squeeze nor under scientific-linux 6.x (a Red Hat 6.x clone) in the last half year.
I don't know what triggers it, but it is more frequent under mate, than under gnome2 with the distros above.

Thanks for the Effort !

It installed just fine for me. (x86_64 on a GPT Partition).

Noticed one problem with after install / end user configuration. ( May not be SalixOS related ... )

The SlackBuild / Sourcery for NVIDIA video driver v295.33 has problems. The NVIDIA GUI config tool just sleeps in the background if you try to use it ...
( Just wanted to have a correct refresh for a LCD monitor.)

Will try looking for missing deps.
