Personally, I like the high degree of customization that tint2 gives you.
I will choose that before the ultra lightweight fbpanel.

I have installed slackware-14 and it seems that the problem with Epson LQ-300 as stated above
is a specific problem of slackware and its derivates like Salix and Slackel with
the version of cups-1.5.4.

In Debian distros like KNOPPIX or Crunchbang Epson LQ-300 printer does not hang with
cups-1.5.4 version. I have reported it to cups, however, I am now unable to login any longer. ???

I have not yet reported to slackware since only today I installed and confirmed problem with
that distro as well. I have not seen a forum for slackware.

Hi, Atip,

I've read that LinuxQuestions.org's Slackware discussion section is regarded as the "semi-official" Slackware forum:

https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/

The non-lazy Slackers here might know other good alternatives ...

Thanks! I posted there under hardware.

Installed Full

Network was set up automatically (in KDE the installer asked me if I wanted to do this or not)

Not sure about Conky popping up on login (before the desktop background even appears) - it's a personal choice.
I'd actually be ok with it if it were minimised on startup (but running).

When I first clicked "all apps" in the menu I got an error message. But
when I did so again it worked normally (so I'm afraid I can't say anything about the message).

SpaceFM is nice - I like the permissions management feature.

I like the choice of Geany as text editor, but maybe it should wrap lines as default.

As geany is primary a programming tool, the default make sense to me of line wrap being off. IIRC leafpad is also installed, perhaps that's more of a general-purpose text editor?

Is this 32-bit only or have I missed something, like a 64-bit link maybe? Also, it's been 2.5 months since this beta was released. Is development progressing or is everything on hold for a new Slackware beta cycle?

No, it's only 32bit for now. And development has indeed stalled, attention is being diverted towards getting the KDE edition released, but that is going slow as well.

Thanks for the update, gapan. I'm working on a review (my first Linux distro review in quite some time) and I wanted to make sure I'm getting everything right.
