Salix Fluxbox 14.1RC1 has just been uploaded for testing.
Not a lot of changes since the beta release. The most notable is that gimp has been replaced with mtpaint. Other than that, the few minor bugs that were found were fixed. More specifically:
- A bug was fixed with gvfs and now samba shares are mounted properly
- Feh has been upgraded and the stale menu entry has been removed
Also, all security fixes released since the beta have been included.
Feel free to test and report any problems.

Thanks for testing Atip.Atip wrote:Looks very nice.
Yes, we already talked about this in the beta1 thread, remember? I asked for alternatives, none was given.Atip wrote:Exaile cannot play audio CD.
Yes... as it should.Atip wrote:whaaw plays DVD

If you are, then you should really report this to slackware.

Salix Fluxbox 14.1RC1/FULL:
Stress test passed with no problems!
PS: gxkb
X11 keyboard indicator and switcher:
It shows a flag of current keyboard in a systray area and allows you to switch to another one. It's written in C and uses the GTK library (no GNOME is needed).

How is it different than fbxkb that we're already using?posixru wrote:PS: gxkb

New member. New Install. You can read about here.
I will give feedback here later when I can.
But I am green on using this distro , but not fluxbox.

Re: Salix Fluxbox 14.1RC1
I have been using the RC1 for several days and the only problem I came across was that Suspend (for which this laptop must not be prepared) resulted in a freeze for which the only solution was a hard power off.
It looks pretty good to me!

My test: Working stable, more options, more convenient when using the three layouts.gapan wrote:How is it different than fbxkb that we're already using?
Author and started making gxkb, because there were a lot of other small issues.
PS: I just showed! Maybe someone like, I liked!

Yes, that is the same problem which exists as well in Slackel-Openbox, however, now
both in Slackel Live Fluxbox/KDE that problem is gone. MC opens fast irregardless of
Internet connection. May be djemos has MC now compiled w/o --enable-vfs-smb.
My server was down for 10 days so I could really see the problem. WICD showed that
I was connected, however, one could not ping or get any connections and MC woudl not open
at all. If then at WICD I clicked on "Disconnect All", MC would pop-up instantly.
Now that the server was fixed (they called it "technical enhancement") MC is opening again.
However, when on this so-called broadband the download speed drops below 10 Kb/sec MC opens very slow.
Re: Salix Fluxbox 14.1RC1
Inserted audio CD into DVD/CD Rom player.
Was asked what to use to open.
Choose File Manager pcmanfm
FM opened with all the audio file showing.
Opened whaaw-mplayer.
Click File-Open-Audio Disk, all audio files showing.
Double click on one and whaaw-mplayer roars to live
Did someone say whaaw-mplayer does not play audio CDs?
Exaile gives quoted error.
