I am very glad to head of this.

Though, I still not test slackware 14.2 too. (Because it not support my $HOME XFS partition)

In fact, I leave salix/slackware almost two years, because it not worked well with emacs+fcitx,

Slackware 14.1 not work well with this, Salix is even worse. Please see viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6123

I hope this time, salix/slackware is stable enough, to make me not leave again.

Thanks.

Beside LibreOffice Word, Calligra and AbiWord I'm looking to try out some other word processors. I found Textmaker from Softmaker and Applixware.

First, I had to extract the Textmaker package. Using Thunar I tried to use 'Engrampa Archive Manager' but it didn't work.

When I start engrampa in a terminal I get the message:
"engrampa: error while loading shared libraries: libjson-glib-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".

How should I install the missing part?

Then, I tried to install Textmaker (I extracted it with Dolphin). After extracting the archive I changed into the directory (named 'softmaker-office-2016-757). After starting 'installsmoffice' I answered a couple of questions and then the installation was stopped with this message:
"./office.tgz not found. Installation aborted."
Well, the file 'office.tgz' was available within the same directory.

Next, I tried to install a demo of Applixware. I extracted the package, changed to the setup directory and started the install script as user (as described in the Readme):
$ ./install
I got an error:
"bash: ./install: No such file or directory"

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I guess the latter issues may have something in common, right?

I made another odd observation: In LibreOffice Writer some dialogs contain misdisplayed (correct word?) fonts. Small rectangles are shown instead of characters. (I would like to present an image here but could not upload it.)

In some cases the dialogs can be changed in size. After a re-size the fonts are displayed as they should. Examples:
- Menu Tools > Customize > Menus
- Menu Tools > Customize > Toolbars

On my installation I get dialogs with wrong displayed fonts in many cases. Examples:
- Menu Format > Character > Font Effects
- Menu Format > Character > Position
- Menu Format > Character > Highlighting
- Menu Format > Character > Borders

- Menu Format > Paragraph > Alignment
- Menu Format > Paragraph > Text Flow
- Menu Format > Paragraph > Outline & Numbering
- Menu Format > Paragraph > Drop Caps
- Menu Format > Paragraph > Borders
- Menu Format > Paragraph > Area
- Menu Format > Paragraph > Transparency

I just found out that my installation DVD was bad. I'm going to make a new DVD and do a new installation. I'll report about the outcome later.

After doing a new installation with a new DVD (checksum was OK) nothing has changed.

The Engrampa Archive Manager is working now but 'sudo update-all' for the fonts didn't help with the LibreOffice Writer dialogs.

And I can't install Softmaker Textmaker as well.

Which dialogs? What language?

You're trying to run a 32bit binary in a 64bit system or vice versa. That's not possible.

gapan, I observed it in the LibreOffice Writer dialogs mentioned above. Menu 'Tools' > 'Customize' dialog, Menu 'Format' > 'Character' dialog and Menu 'Format' > 'Paragraph' dialog. That are just three examples.

As language I use "en_US.utf8".

Thank you.
