Uncomplicated firewall

Post by mimosa »

This is a rebuild of lmello's packages for Salix 13.37, so it's not the latest version. See:

http://gufw.org

ufw is a CLI firewall for which gufw is the GUI.

Dependencies: pygobject, pygtk, python

Thanks to andyprice for building for i486 and testing.

Please report any problems :)

Hmmm. Interesting. My preferences by port in my soon to be defunct Ubuntu 12.10 install list both:
8200/tcp allowin anywhere
1900/udp allowin anywhere
8200/tcp allowin anywhere (v6)
1900/udp allowin anywhere (v6)
I believe this was generated automatically by port using the simple configuration. I assume that this has something to do with IPv6 in Ubuntu, but as I am using Network Manager in Salix64 14.0 XFCE the same configuration should exist in this version of gufw as well, shouldn't it?

I can't remember how the configuration works for (g)ufw, but it may well be that the ubuntu package starts the user off with some generic defaults. I just packaged it as is. I believe the configuration is quite simple.

That is the weird thing - the Ubuntu version doesn't start off with any preconfigured settings. Adding a port just gives two versions (normal and "v6") in Gufw. Not a problem, just thought that maybe you would know. Yes, the configuration is extremely KISS.

It might be interesting to ask the developer (there is an email on his site or maybe in the package's README). He's very friendly and helpful.
