Unfortunately the repos has still some TB 2 version.

This is from current ChangeLog, but you should be able to install this package without problems.

See here for an x86_64 build of thunderbird 3.0.1 viewtopic.php?f=20&t=536 compiled on a fresh Salix64 install.
