soft for music

If there's software you need and you can't find, make a request for it.

As gapan said, if you want a new version, you'll have to do it yourself; that may or may not be reasonably straightforward.

Salix does not provide a package for ardour. The buildscripts at http://slackbuilds.org are maintained by individual contributors.

It is important to understand that free/open source software (such as Linux, Linux distributions, and applications that run on them) are created by individual volunteers (who may or may not work as a team) in their spare time. The Salix repositories add over 500 packages on top of what is provided by Slackware, but there are still always going to be more applications out there.

As a matter of policy, Salix (in line with Slackware) does not offer the latest versions of things anyway. Those packages that are included are upgraded when there is a new release of Salix, such as the forthcoming 14.1 release - except where a security issue requires an interim upgrade. The reason for this is it makes for a stable system where all the parts are known to work reasonably well together. A distribution like Arch, by contrast, has a rolling release model where packages may be upgraded in the repositories at any time. As a result, the system often breaks, and users have to roll up their sleeves and fix it themselves. There is nothing wrong with this approach, but it isn't what Salix does.

It doesn't mean you have to use emacs. It is just needed for the build to work. Then you can probably even uninstall it - not that there is any need.
