[SOLVED] Oracle Java JDK repackage: which slackBuild?

Post by john256 » 18. Jan 2015, 16:51

I need the Java JDK 8 from Oracle and wonder wether I should go with Pat's SlackBuild or with the one found at slackbuilds.org.

I wonder what would the Salix maintainers recommend... :?:

I have only tried Pat's but both should work.

I am inclined to go for it as well (building jdk-8u25-i586-1.txz as I write), but was wondering if something hasn't changed after the time the script was written (JDK 7)...

No, it works just as fine with the latest 7 and 8 java releases.

Yes, also a log out/log in so the profile scripts run again.

Just for the record, I got some warnings toward the end of the packaging process (hope these are benign, though):

For the time being everything seems to be OK, just *.jar files open in engrampa instead of being executed by the java executable.

In the "Open With Other Application..." dialog there no option to select an appropriate alternative application, although there is a related sun-java.desktop file in /usr/share/applications/ that says "MimeType=application/x-java-archive;application/x-jar;".

What can be done in this situation?
