Xfce 4.14 to depend on systemd

Post by ChuangTzu »

I know this is a few years down the line....probably 3-6 years... however, I noticed that Xfce 4.14 will depend on systemd.
Dependencies (tbd)

pkgconfig
automake
autoconf
libtool
gtk+-3.0 >= 3.14
Same version for gdk-3.0.
glib-2.0 >= 2.42
Same version for gmodule-2.0, gobject-2.0, gthread-2.0, gio-2.0 and gdbus
gdk-pixbuf-2.0 >= 2.30
cairo >= 1.12
libwnck3
upower-0.99
consolekit / systemd

I don't think that is certain. And even if it will depend on systemd, it might be some part of xfce that we will never use. So, nothing to talk about, yet.

:)

Have you considered "Lumina" from PCBSD as an official flavor? It is built on top of Fluxbox.

No. I don't think it's ready to replace xfce or mate. Not to mention it's qt5...

Why being based on Qt5 constitutes a problem?

Would you kindly bother to answer?

I asked this because in the past, you, yourself, proposed to switch to alternative web browsers such as Midori (for LXDE, MATE, Openbox and Xfce) and QupZilla (for KDE), QupZilla is based upon Qt5 and is the best web browser by far.
