Sorry, I got it mixed up. The first time I referred to it as SSE3 and the second time as SSSE3, which are not the same. I actually meant to write SSSE3, which your CPU apparently does not support:

I don't know for certain if that's the actual problem, but it seems like it is. In which case, upgrading the kernel will do nothing. Only way to be more certain would be for someone else with the same CPU try it too.

Well, I can't test the browser. Because I think it don't worth it to buy a new desktop computer, I will stay with my present machine which, by the other hand, runs very well.

Anyway, your advices give me the knowledge of schroot, an interesting tool for doing experiments without messing up the main installation.
