md5sum 30d3f97bccc064981e3842832706eb62 salix-kde-13.1.1-beta9.iso
what are the changes since beta7?
First, salix-kdebeta9 maybe has no differences from kdebeta8.
If i remember well maybe is the change in panel which was not cover all the bottom of screen.
And also added konqueror salix.org first page. I dont remember what else.

1) changes in salix-kde-13.1.1-beta8.iso
mysql,libvncserver added. Thanks to gapan.
kwebdev, konq-plugins, jre moved from basic to full
salix-kde-artwork splash, theme. Cursor is the same in kdm and kde.
terminus font use in konsole.
locked the desktop widgets. Thanks to Akuna

And also set_kde_langs removed.

Thereis a readme file with changes to remember
here. http://www.slackel.gr/isos/salix-kde/Readme.txt

Also for the salix-live-kdecd only package kdebase-workspace-4.4.3-i486-1.txz (75MB) repackaged, i removed wallpapers and renamed it to kdebase-workspace-4.4.2-i486-1.txz (17MB)
So livecd is 679MB less than 713MB

Pay attention in version -4.4.2 so users will have no problem after an installation of livecd to hard disk b/c with an upgrade the original package with all wallpapers we dont need for livecd will be installed.

2) Also i have just downloaded salix-kde-beta8-13.1.1.iso
and salix-kde-beta8-13.1.1.iso.md5 and i did a
md5sum -c salix-kde-beta8-13.1.1.iso.md5
and the result was ΕΝΤΑΞΕΙ (ΟΚ) :)

Ι download also the salixlive-kdebeta9 ,salix-kde-beta8-13.1.1.iso and salix-kde-beta9.iso to check them also.
And the results was OK also.

So isos have been checked and are ok.

I have just finished an installation of beta9. All I can say so far is:
1. I think I preferred the splash screen background to be the same as the kdm background, not the desktop background.
2. KMail still shows an error message when launching it and it still shuts down when the error message is dismissed.

And this one is for akuna: the about screen in lilosetup is not set to be always on top of the main window.

I checked it and some setup files missing in beta9.iso. So i add them in user-settings-kde and Akonadi, kmail problem solved.

I like both.
but i think the desktop background splash screen is ok. But we can use whatever you think is best. No problem.

Also with desktop background salixlive size iso is smaller about 2Mb.

I could reproduce this only if directly executed from a terminal with su instead of running with kdesu...
There seem to be a problem with .Xautority. As it stands now, you can't launch any other GUI tools that way either.

But if as root you issue:

Code: Select all

export XAUTHORITY=/home/your_regular_user/.Xauthority
Then LiloSetup (and other GUI utilities) will function as expected.

PS: LiloSetup's About window is fixed. ;)

This is good.

I have ask a collegue (a Mac guy lol) about it. He likes it but found it a bit too complex. What about simplifying / styling more the tree ?
