Hey! That's what I have as my *slackbox* too. Most other laptops around the house run some form of *buntu.

Have you experienced any startup issues with specific hard disk drives or the like? I am not satisfied with the system's performance.

Another thing: Should we create a separate forum called Hardware so people could present their rigs there? It's very untidy having it all in one thread:)

I saw your post just by chance.

I don't use Salix for everyday use now. I didn't experience any special performance issues with Salix on my Thinkpad when I did. You should try running other distributions with a similar setup to find the cause of the problem.

Anyway, maybe this thread is not the right place for that. It's better opening a new thread.
