Restoring colorized boot & speed tweaks after kernel update
Before I build a 3.18.5 kernel for my 14.1 Openbox, are there any other scripts/packages I need to besides shell-colors, rc.0, rc.4, rc.6, rc.K, rc.K, rc.M, and rc.sysvinit to restore Salix boot speed tweaks and boot message colorization? Thanks!!

Building a new kernel has nothing to do with boot scripts.

Re: Restoring colorized boot & speed tweaks after kernel upd
The reason why I asked was that a friend said he upgraded to the 3.14.29 kernel in Slackware Current (I suspect he also added Slackware Current repositories and upgraded his system) and said his Salix booted like normal Slackware and the colorization was gone. I guess what I'm asking is, when I install and boot the new kernel, will I lose the boot speed and colorization?

Your friend did much more than just upgrading the kernel. Among others he probably replaced the salix sysvinit-scripts package with the slackware one. Other things probably also don't work as they should now, he just hasn't noticed yet.

Great! Thanks so much! I'll install my kernel.
