Was going to reply to a topic on another forum and I wanted to show Salix version and Window Manager used in terminal.
I'd get close. But no cigar.

Code: Select all

harry[~]$ inxi -S
System: Host: darkstar.example.net Kernel: 3.10.17-smp i686 (32 bit)
Desktop: Fluxbox 1.3.5 Distro: Slackware 14.1
harry[~]$ cat /etc/issue

Edit your /etc/slackware-version file, put anything you want to show in it, and then inxi should show it too. :D

OK. I was not sure editing anything in /etc would bork anything. Thanks Gapan. :D

Made a backup of /etc/slackware-version out of habit first. Named it slackware-versionbk

Code: Select all

harry[~]$ inxi -S
System: Host: darkstar.example.net Kernel: 3.10.17-smp i686 (32 bit)
Desktop: Fluxbox 1.3.5 Distro: Salix 14.1 32bit Fluxbox
harry[~]$ cat /etc/slackware-version
Salix 14.1 32bit Fluxbox
Happy Camper now. I was going to add scooter tramp but figured I clog up inxi with cruft over my being
a 12 year old mind set. 8-)
