I tried a "core installation" because i like minimalism and i failed.
I couldn't install 'xorg' is there an equivalent package?
Is there a list of packages in the base group?
It complained about headers and other packages i forgot.
Is there a howto install this type of installation?
Enquiring minds want to know, I love minimal installs, can it be done in Salix?
I installed Salix-Fluxbox and went from there, installing what i liked.
Is it only for servers?

Thank you.

Here's an explanation of the three installation modes and their recommended uses that available on each installation disk.
http://guide.salixos.org/103Installatio ... html#2_1_2
A Core install is recommended for command line application such as web and files servers, though I guess you could build it up to a working desktop. I would think that you would be better off installing in Basic mode since it give you a working desktop environment and little else.

I don't think there is a package list handy, but on the installation disk all the packages that get installed are listed in there respective directories, i.e salix/core, salix/basic, and salix/full. Note that a Full installation will install all packages found in /core, /basic and /full where a basic installs packages for /core and /basic/ Core mode only installs those packages from the /core directory.
