We are planing on making an enterprise desktop workstation that will be deployed remotely. We will most likely manage these using Puppet and support using Bomghar. The goal is to make a replacement Windows desktop environment for non-tech savvy folks. The UI of both Mate and XFCE both are excellent for this goal. Most of the work is done inside a web browser by the end-users.
Some Issues:
- Support for Outlook Clients
- Windows 2012 third-party server that is being used on some of the current workstations
- Printers (network) and local.
I a few questions regarding Salix:
- What are some recommended packages if we use Salix as our underlying distro?
- Any support issues that may pop-up in this setup?
