MC File Manager Question

Post by Atip »

In the latest Slackware and its offsprings, Salix and Slackel,
mc file manager will not open anymore iso files. This is an important feature
for me in mc.

In my Salix-14.0 working box with kernel 4.4.9-smp mc does open iso files.

My question: To where will I address this problem that it can be possibly corrected.

I would hate to change to a distro where I have no such problem. I have tried more than
12 file managers and always come back to mc, it is just the best for me. I used it in my
short stint with windows more than 20 years ago and ever since in Linux. :)

On slackel 6.0.6 that has been upgraded with latest kernel 4.4.16 and latest slackware packages, mc opens slackellive64-openbox-6.0.6.iso file and i can see the iso details, folders and files.
When I press Enter on an .iso file, mc will open the .iso and I can browse individual files.
Edit: mc uses isoinfo to view iso files. Do you have cdrtools installed?
Also (maybe not needed), install libisoburn package (which includes xorriso).
Look at /etc/mc/mc.ext and /usr/libexec/mc/ext.d/misc.sh

It also works OK here on 14.2... But I have lots of extra stuff installed.
