In the latest issue (171) of Linux User & Developer there is a review of Salix 14.2 Xfce Edition
The review is very positive, the only negative was that the
Salix System tools feel a little out of place with the rest of the distro at time.
Summary
Not only is Salix great entry point into Slackware, it's one of the best distro updates we've tested this year.
9
9 points of 10 is a good score.

Just read it! Nice to see a review that didn't take its author 5 mins to write. Although I'm not sure I understand what that comment about the system tools actually means...

Maybe he thinks Salix has a very "point and click" feel overall but the system tools are more hands-on?

All I know is that having tested a few other distros recently, Salix remains the only general-purpose distro for me. Keep up the fantastic work, guys. You have my most sincere gratitude for all you've done.

Is there an online version of this? I googled it and only found a print publication.

That seems almost as much an insult as a compliment.

Many people regard Slackware as a bit of a hair shirt - but the review gives Salix credit for its silk lining.

That's an excellent way to describe the review.

Myself, I regard Slackware and Salix both quite highly. I think Salix adds just enough usability to the legendary stability of Slackware.
