Distrowatch: Salix

Post by ChuangTzu »

Just a heads up, distrowatch has changed Salix to "dormant/defined" and no longer shows a ranking. Might be time for a 14.2.2 .iso.

And time to add more positive reviews! I just added mine.

Would a new "point release" make it "actively supported" again?

It seems a bit unfair they don't do that for Slackware, too. Might wake Pat up!

I think gapan did say recently he was considering it. But it's not a small undertaking to do it.

I also wrote a review, they are currently checking it out. it seems to me really sad and wrong this behavior on the part of distrowatch, there are in the list of absolutely useless distros ... I did not understand then what are the criteria for which a distro becomes dormant. I hope salix immediately return active on the list

It certainly isn't. I still am considering it, but I am completely overwhelmed with RL now and definitely at least until the end of June.

I sent a mail to distrowatch and Jesse Smith answered me:
I recommend reading our FAQ on this topic:

Thanks! That doesn't explain why they haven't done the same for Slackware, though. Not that they should be encouraged to do so ...

It might be time to make the developers work on the flavors of Salix 14.2 :D
