openSUSE Tumbleweed Begins Transitioning To x86-64-v2 CPU Requirements

Post by SalixManiac » 3. Jan 2023, 20:21

since four years when I update a security package or I update you ffmpeg xf86-video-intel codecs libva libva-intel-driver python3... I am compiling in x86-64-v2 under Salix and I have never had any problems (today I am at 164 packages in x86-64-v2 on 811).
The future of Salix/slackware may be through the transition to x86-64-v2 ?
I wouldn't do that with a distribution like opensuse that only has 18 months of support

Hello,

I'm not qualified to discuss this, but here's the openSUSE Tumbleweed (rolling release) news on the matter:
