(author and indefatigable/very critical distro reviewer, many links at Distrowatch.com).
His reviews are definitely interesting but I also do not mind the "2005" thing, I mean I use Linux since 2010 and Xfce since 2011, I do not exactly know what happened 2005 obviously. :)

I have to say that is really really true. I only changed the default theme to something else but it is also a light theme that I installed from the repos. The panel was already set perfectly and the app collection is perfect. Salix's Xfce "implementation" is definitely underrated.

I think there is a place for Slackware and by extension Salix and there is a place for all those "modern" iterations of distros and desktop environments.

Here Dedoimedo nails the strong points of Salix (that make it one of the top 5 distros easily). A distro for everyday use has to be stable and the stability of Salix is like that of a commercial UNIX. Killer combination of Slackware subsystem and graphical system utilities.
"And the more you use it, the more you like it .. There's this rock-solid aura about this distro. Must be the twenty years of Slackware legacy.. for its intended audience, it makes perfect sense, and so much more than some other supposedly nerdy distributions. With others, there's chaos. Here's it's tranquility."
High praise indeed from this reviewer.

It may look like we're currently experiencing more stuckness, but this will
lead us to Quality. We'll have this release in the can before you know it.

libseccomp seems to be needed by all sorts of things, and wasn't on my system. For example, to run man or apropos. This happened after a recent upgrade.
