How is made Salix OS?

Dear developers of the Salix OS, could you post some information about the differences between the Slackware and your distribution in Salix Wiki?

The differences are not so big.

- Salix use the Slackware repository as base, dependancies support has been added to it.
- Salix maintain its own extra packages repositories with deps support.
- Different ISO flavors (Xfce, Mate, Fluxbox, Lxde, ratpoison, KDE) with a traditionnal install.
- Differents LiveCDS flavors (...) with a graphical installer and some others tools to make users life easier (liveclone, lilosetup, ...).
- Some internationalized Graphical User Interface tools have been developped to help users setting up their system.
- Some good documentations (wiki, Salix Starting guides...)

I don't understand what kind of information you expect. That's what the homepage says on that matter:

Salix is a GNU/Linux distribution based on Slackware that is simple, fast and easy to use. Salix is also fully backwards compatible with Slackware, so Slackware users can benefit from Salix repositories, which they can use as an "extra" quality source of software for their favorite distribution. Like a bonsai, Salix is small, light & the product of infinite care.

As Salix is based on Slackware (no alternative or competitor) that question makes it hard to grasp for me. Salix is effectively not overlapping with Slackware at all so there's no real difference. When looking at the aim there a differences regarding the use cases and users developed for. That differences are well summarized by that quote though (I highlighted them).

Maybe what fredg wrote meanwhile answers your question.

Of course, I meant "invisible" differences - technical features, that changed inside the system.

I know one man's opinion, which states that packages of Salix OS (and Absolute Linux, better Zenwalk) is bad compatible with Slackware. Why is this possible?

That's certainly not true for Salix. Have a look at this list: http://www.salixos.org/wiki/index.php/P ... _Slackware
There have been some few corner cases where that is/was true. For example some package management tool when the original pktools were still replaced with wrappers. Anyway for better compatibility, which is a major criteria for us, we refrained from those wrappers with 13.37. The remaining differences are very unlikely to cause incompatibilities. Although nobody can guarantee they never do in even the most special cases.

What seems more likely to me is that this person's problems were not caused by the usage of Salix packages on Slackware. They could for example origin from the usage of multiple repositories other than just Slackware and Salix. While all 3rd party repository projects like Salix or slacky.eu are compatible with Slackware, they are not necessarily among each other. But that doesn't make them incompatible to Slackware.

That person is either completely misinformed and doesn't know anything about what he's talking about, which means he's stupid, or deliberately spreading lies, which means he's evil.

No why should I? You asked for the differences. That's exactly what the list I posted contains. The one you posted contains ALL the packages, I don't see how that should be related to your question.
