Hi,
Couldn`t Salix installation provide the file /etc/gamin/gaminrc by default with reasonable values?
This file doesn`t exist and this make systems chokes from time to time. The solution is simply to create this file with reasonable values as described: http://www.salixos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2385
/etc/gamin/gaminrc with reasonable values by default ?
Re: /etc/gamin/gaminrc with reasonable values by default ?
There is already a gaminrc, with exactly those settings.
Re: /etc/gamin/gaminrc with reasonable values by default ?
What do you mean already? I`m using updated Salix 13.1 and there was not.
Re: /etc/gamin/gaminrc with reasonable values by default ?
I don't remember about 13.1, but it's there in 13.37.
Re: /etc/gamin/gaminrc with reasonable values by default ?
13.1 does not include the gaminrc that i posted in http://www.salixos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2385. The gaminrc that i posted is the default one from my 13.37 fluxbox install.gapan wrote:I don't remember about 13.1, but it's there in 13.37.
You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.

Re: /etc/gamin/gaminrc with reasonable values by default ?
Why does it not use "kernel" instead of "poll"? This causes the nasty pcmanfm refresh issue and AFAIK "kernel" is default without any gaminrc file.
EDIT:
The SlackBuild only says:
EDIT:
(http://people.gnome.org/~veillard/gamin/config.html)By default gamin should work without needing any configuration, but sometimes using the kernel notification APIs doesn't work or lead to troubles (for example when trying to unmount device). By default gamin revert to using polling for all paths matching /mnt/* or /media/* on Linux. This may be overriden or extended by the one of the three config files /etc/gamin/gaminrc, $HOME/.gaminrc, /etc/gamin/mandatory_gaminrc (note that prior to 0.1.4 only $HOME/.gaminrc was used and fsset was not implemented).
The SlackBuild only says:
# A safe default is to poll filesystems once every 15 seconds:
