mate-desktop for Salix-14

Post by 2009tester »

Any plans for the release of Mate-Destop on Salix 14?
Looks like developers are busy with KDE.

How can i install Mate over XFCE?

You can try:

Code: Select all

#slapt-get -u
#slapt-get --install-set mate
Note: I have only run this as a simulation, so no guarantees but I don't see why it shouldn't work. If you want to do the same thing to see what changes will be made just add "-s" onto the command like so:

Code: Select all

slapt-get -s --install-set mate
Once the packages are installed you should just have to log out and choose mate as your session in the login screen.

Hello Maximus

I will try it on Virtual Box, not on PC.
I tried earlier Fedora to convert from XFCE to Mate.
Fedora preserved all the services of XFCE and ran them along with Mate services.
I had similar duplicate services running simultaneously.

Thanks.
