plasma 5

Post by davidwillis »

Just wondering if there were any plans for a Salix using plasma 5 in the near future? Or if there is an easy way to upgrade to it?

Thanks

Slackware will most probably not include KDE5 in the next release. So we won't either.

hmm... with the release cycle of slackware, that means it won't be until sometime around 2017?

You'll have to ask Pat Volkerding for that.

But if you want to experiment, you can run slackware-current and add alienbob's ktown for kde5 on top.

Of course, that is all "use at your own risk".

I have installed alienbob's ktown kde5 on slackel and i had a lot of problems. So if you want to have a workable system then do not install it. Kde5 is not stable yet.
If you just want to see what is like then install it.

Thanks. It seems like it will be a while before kde5 is ready.
