As far as I know gapan plans to upgrade at the end of the qualification period for this branch, i.e. when Firefox 52.2.0 will be released, and rightly so as there have been reports of crashes at least on Slackware 14.1 with the version 52.0.2esr, and that leaded Patrick Volkerding to revert to 45.9.0 (the version shipped in Salix) for this Slackware version.

Of course anyone may upgrade one's system.

I always update firefox frequently, unless develpment tools, others functionality almost no see any crash.

I exclude firefox update in salix package, to avoid downgrade it, Thanks

The "old" plugins do not work in Firefox 52, there will be support for them in the 45.x ESR as long as it lasts. As I use the DJVU-plugin very much, and there is no new one, I think this is a big disadvantage. On the other hand the Flash-plugin does not work either, and that is probably a big advantage...
