Hi, support for Firefox-esr 52 is ending, and also in slackware current, the new Firefox-esr 60 based on Quantum is available. When will it be available on Salix?

According to the FF ESR plan, 52esr will have another release (52.9.0). After that, we'll switch to 60, with 60.2.0. Probably somewhere around August/September.

Hello, tried in Salix 14.0.
Apparently cannot start binary

Code: Select all

bash-4.2$ firefox
bash: /usr/bin/firefox: cannot execute binary file
Rolled back to 52.9.0 atm.

Thanks laplume. I didn't think it would be usable in 14.0, but I hadn't tried. I don't know about 14.1 either yet. It could very well be that 59esr is the latest we could have in those.

Hello Gapan,
don't think so.
I remember I had downloaded to 60 version binary from Mozilla website, placed in my /home and made it executable. It eventually worked. In case I may try with Ruario's script which I must have somewhere to see it that works as well.

Antonio

Really? Are you on 32bits or 64bits? I need to test this.

EDIT: oh, crap. I see it now. The 32bit package actually contains 64bit binaries. No wonder it doesn't work... Fix is coming up.
