The Slint HandBook can be translated on Crowdin

Hello,

I have uploaded the Slint HandBook in its current state:
https://github.com/DidierSpaier/slint-d ... dBook.adoc
on Crowdin

This file is very huge but I have enabled machine translation from Crowdin, using the translation memory built gathering all translations already done for Slint or other projects in Crowdin:
https://crowdin.com/project/slint

Practically this means that for these languages:
Chinese simplified
Dutch
French
German
Greek
Italian
Japanese
Portuguese
Portuguese (Brazil)
Russian
Spanish
Swedish
Turkish
Ukrainian

The translators, will have mostly to review the translations rather to translate from scratch. But it is important to REVIEW EVERY STRING!

I have user the asciidoc file format for the source file.

This allows to display on the left side of the page the source or translation preview as seen in a web browser (converted to HTML), with different colors if requested for translated, untranslated and approved strings.

This will also greatly simplify the translations' processing.

For instance one can download the translation into Ukrainian, renamed HandBook.ua.adoc and use this simple command to get the corresponding web page:
asciidoctor HandBook.ua.adoc
and load it in a browser, for instance:
firefox HandBook.ua.html

Thanks in advance to our translators.

Cheers,
Didier

Thanks Hugo, that was fast as usual (and I see that all other translations are also done).

Hi Didier

I am working on the Swedish HandBook translation and to check the result i downloaded the https://github.com/DidierSpaier/slint-d ... dBook.adoc and tried to build a Swedish asciidoc file but it complained about

Code: Select all

Your input po file sv_SE.HandBook.po seems outdated (The amount of entries differ between files: 804 is not 812).
Please consider running po4a-updatepo to refresh it.

Probably my mistake: I made some changes in HandBook.adoc in GitHub and didn't run pa4a-updatepo to rebuild HandBook.pot then update it in Crowdin. I will check and get back to you when done, within one hour or so.

I tried and can't reproduce.

Here is what I did:
Just a shot in the dark: maybe you saved the page https://github.com/DidierSpaier/slint-t ... dBook.adoc from firefox or pasted the link and downloaded it using wget or curl? Then you got the web page instead of the raw file. I have been bitten by that myself several times :(

If this is the case, you need to display the raw file, just clicking the "raw" button under the title the download it.

Cheers,
Didier

EDIT: I corrected a wrong link to a page on Crowdin

Hi Didier

There is still problems, i checked the downloads and everything seams to be right.
I then downloaded the zipped package from https://github.com/DidierSpaier/slint-d ... s/main.zip and checked the HandBook.pot and it contains 812 entries when opened in poedit but the Swedish only contains 804 entries. So the HandBook.pot file and the sv_SE.HandBook.po file don't have the same number of entries.

The Swedish translation also have some strange translations.
Example :
The string: It presents, from left to right:
is translated with:

Code: Select all

#-#-#-#-# sv_SE.HandBook.adoc:933 #-#-#-#-#
Den presenterar, från vänster till höger,
#-#-#-#-# sv_SE.HandBook.adoc:956 #-#-#-#-#
Den presenterar, från vänster till höger:
Regards Ingemar
