For the moment I just populated https://slackware.uk/slint/x86_64/slint-15.0/source/ with the files from 14.2.1, after having removed the sub-folders for software available from slackware-15.0 that I will probably do not need to rebuild for Slint, with in some case a NOTE in these sub-folders about what to check or do.

So yes the horizon is in sight, but still very far away...

Best,
Didier

PS I need you advice for managing the translations. I am wondering if I should use git or a web platform (other than Crowdin?) to manage thee translations in a git repository. As you are translating many projects, what do you recommend as workflow and tools?

Also, what do you recommend for the translators are online and/of off line editors?

Feel free to answer me here or by email and/or IRC (#slint @ irc.libera.chat)

Perhaps Weblate platform for the translations...

I also like Crowdin, it syncs automatically with Poedit.

Slint 15.0beta2 was released...
And an ISO for Slint 15.0beta3 will be ready locally tonight, tested and hopefully uploaded tomorrow :D

Then, I will address a request for testing to a wider audience than the Slint mailing list, including this forum.

I tested the installation "beta2" on an extra disk, since this old laptop of mine does not support virtualization. The installation went flawlessly even though the Portuguese translations are not yet fully present. I noticed that only the (mate) and (lxqt) desktop environments are present... In a general way from a normal user I found Slint "mate" looking kind of in need of an improvement in the appearance "theme" and "icons". I also found it a bit too bloatware.

Thanks for testing, Hugo.

Yes, I still have to update all the docs for Slint 15.0, then request an update of the translations... About the extra disk... for testing, you can install on an USB stick.
I noticed that only the (mate) and (lxqt) desktop environments are present...
Yes. I can't integrate more than two desktops, with enough pre-configuration and consistency, by lack of time.

Suggestions for enhancements are welcome, here and on the mailing list! And what about LXQt?
I also found it a bit too bloatware.
Could you please elaborate?

LXQt looks better. MATE appearance is very inconsistent.

I believe that Slint ships a lot of software out of the box. I prefer "one application per task". But maybe it's due to dependencies...

Not sure what you mean by "inconsistent", anyway I am open to any suggestion of enhancement. As a aside, I prefer LXQT but continue to ship MATE which was our flagship in 14.2.1 and is the most accessible desktop using a screen reader.

At least you can hide applications specific to LXQt from the MATE application menu and vice versa, using the "hide-desktop" command.

By saying "inconsistent" I mean that the appearance of (icon-theme/gtk-theme/window-controls) in general, are not very visibly pleasing. Some mixture of dark with light and also broken icons and stuff.

Yes, the hide-desktop command is a great help so there is not too much "mix" between desktops.
