Just found a bug in gtkservicesetup, look at the cgconfig and the following rows marked in red in the picture below, the description show "The gconfig service" it should be "The cgconfig service"

This bug was in the Salix also see viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7740&p=44681#p44681

I assume old Slackel users just need to do the usual update, right? My Slackel system was not updated for a few days now.
A pleasant detail in this forum: several people pick a picture of their pet as their avatar. Who am I to do otherwise? ;-)

Yes.
In case you have rendering font problems with gdm, install slim and go to init3 then init 4 or reboot.

Also for kernel upgrade can install the install-upgrade-kernel package and then run it. It will download and install kernel and modules and also in the end wil run update-grub.

Code: Select all

sudo install-upgrade-kernel upgrade huge
For kernel-firmware and kernel-source

Code: Select all

sudo slapt-get -i kernel-firmware kernel-source

I don't use any display manager so it doesn't affect me but slim is a better choice than gdm anyway... and in one machine I simply don't want to upgrade the kernel because it messes up the screen (at least that's what happened last time I tried). Are there any changes concerning Openbox? I remember you mentioned a possible change of the taskbar. Also, do I have to run Dotnew?
P.S. The new USB installation willl definitely help many users.

No changes at least user can see. About the taskbar i have thought to use lxpanel but in current it was problematic. Where freezing X.
So continue to use the stable fbpanel.
I think you do not have to run Dotnew.
I run it and i did not see any difference. But be careful what you replace.
