Amazon Kindle

Post by thenktor »

Hi,

did someone already try the Amazon Kindle? A friend of mine need some device to read PDF scriptures in the university. She wanted to buy a netbook, but IMHO a netbook is not a real good solution for this.

Both my older kids (high school age) got one for Christmas last year and they love it. Santa had to pay a lot more for these last year. The text is very clear and sharp, easy to read. They also have some web capability. My opinion is if you read a lot of books, this is the way to go. Although I can't give you an opinion on how they compare to other ebooks like the nook.

AFAIK the Kindle is the only one you can get for a cheap price here in Germany. My friend studies English, so it should not be a problem that there are only English books available ;) But the main interest for her is to read PDF, otherwise she has to print the scriptures and this is quite expensive, too.
Could you tell me something about the PDF capability? And is the web browser usable?
