boot problem: ata2.01: failed to resume link

Post by ron_uit_best »

Hi,

I have a fresh 64-bit installation of Slackware-KDE, but on booting I get the following error 3 times in row, which causes waiting, but then boots:
ata2.01: failed to resume link (scontrol 0)

I checked /var/log/syslog and see the following (first error somewhere line 26):

No other problems on this new machine: MSI P67-GD65 mobo, Core i7, 4GB memory, 64 GB Vertex 2 SSD, also installed SATA harrdisk and Sata DVD.

What can I try to make this lag go away? Is this due to 1 disk, or unused sata-connections?

Tnx, Ron

Check your bios settings. See if there are any options to change the SATA mode to whatever else is available.

Tnx,

In the BIOS I was able to change something in the sata settings. They were set as IDE and I changed them to AHCI. I have no idea what I did, but it worked.
Maybe you also have a fix for the errors " couldn't mount because of unsupported features" ?

If that is about ext4 partitions, then it's not an error, it's just a warning, so it doesn't matter. If you still want to make it go away, you can add "rootfstype=ext4" to the append line in lilo.conf.
