Brother MFC-5440cn

Post by ghostdawg »

Hello all. I have been thinking about installing Salix, it sounds like a very good distro, but have one issue that is holding me up, and it is this Brother AIO printer.

Since Brother offer Deb and Rpm files, do anyone think the rpm2tgz will work? I guess I could run it and see but if I can't get the printer to work, this will be a deal breaker for me to use Salix on a continues basis.

Thnx.

Nobody can know without trying. But if you want to try then you should probaly use the i486 (32 bit) version of Salix.
You also can check if this printer is supported by CUPS at http://openprinting.org/

Yes it does. I wrote a sorta mini-howto on how I got mine working in the Documents thread. But I haven't worked on getting the scanner yet.
