smaller mouse-cursor possible?
smaller mouse-cursor possible?
The offered mouse-cursor-themes are okay, but the mouse-icons are so big and I don't know how to reduce them. In a native slackware-installation the minimum-size is also shown with 16 points, but the mouse-icons are much smaller!?!
Re: smaller mouse-cursor possible?
You could get another mouse theme here: http://xfce-look.org/index.php?xsortmod ... entmode=36
You have to put the mouse themes to ~/.icons/ and then chose them with some config tool, depending on your desktop environment.

Re: smaller mouse-cursor possible?
Anyone know how to find the mouse theme that Slackware uses for xfce so that I could install it in salix too? I assume it's not customized is slackware and is just a default mouse theme and that salix changes the theme from the default, but I could be wrong. I have slackware installed too and I compared the settings but the mouse theme setting there looks the same, just says "default". I too am a fan of a slimmer mouse pointer, especially for my laptop screen.
thanks.
thanks.
Re: smaller mouse-cursor possible?
I'm not sure how to get back to the default X cursor (that's probably what you're looking for). No GUI tool seems to offer a choice, probably as it's a fallback. You could try renaming the .icons/default folder or symlink to something else like default.bak. Then relogin. Not sure whether that's going to work especially for xfce.
Re: smaller mouse-cursor possible?
thanks, that got me to looking around for xorg cursor information and I found this link which has a lot of information about xorg and cursor themes: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/X11_Cursors
Basically it came down to saying look in /usr/share/icons for directories that have a "cursors" subdirectory and then those should be available to you with your desktop environment config. I must have installed something since my initial setup because I noticed I have a "DMZ" theme in the mouse theme tab now. That has a nice sized white mouse pointer.
One odd thing is once you set the theme, the cursor uses that theme for a few seconds then reverts back. However, the setting does stick and once I logged out and back into XFCE, sure enough it remembered the theme I wanted - i'm happy.
thanks.
