GTKMan new window

Post by zAchAry »

File > New (or Open new Window or anything else).
Manual page: is too close to the left border IMHO.

You can start it a second time (and a third and a fourth...)

No, it isn't.

Yes, but it would be nice to have tabs or split view or a New Window menu so that it would be accessible with a few hot-keys (e.g. Alt + F > Alt + N)

Thank you for adding the New menu entry.

It is subjective. I hope that the following screenshots will persuade you

Quod Libet (button and text)

Simple Scan (button)

Viewnior (button)

GTKMan old (text)

GTKMan new (button) - good feature

link to all images

Do you think that the an icon should be added to the index button? (epiphany-bookmarks, gtk-sort-*, stock_add-bookmark, stock_bookmark, stock_addressbook)

It already has an icon. You probably don't have that icon in the icon theme you're using. And the icon isn't too close to the border with clearlooks. Look at the screenshot here: http://www.salixos.org/wiki/index.php/GTKMan

Oops! I have disabled "Show images on buttons". The icon/button is still too close to the border.

Well, I'm using Openbox + GTK-Theme Clearlooks + Gartoon-Redux and despite having an icon it's close to the border. Gapan, you have to aggree that there must be something different when this doesn't happen with other (similar) programs. Even if it doesn't happen for you.
But nobody can call this a regression, so just name it an intentional feature, do some good marketing and become a millionaire. ;)

Well, ok, I changed it in svn. The button in 0.4 is an actual button, not a toolbar button. I changed it to a toolbar button and now it's the same as everything else (I think).
