Problem with logging into different Window Manger
Problem with logging into different Window Manger
After spending two years using Kubuntu on my laptop I decided that it was time for a change. So Friday night I install Salix, and I must say I am really enjoying it. For the last day and a half I have been trying to customize it by installing fluxbox via Gslapt. It seems that everything was installed properly but the thing is when I get to the login screen and press the button where I am supposed to be able to change the session from xfce to fluxbox I see only the options to start in are the usual ones. So my question is am I missing something or could it be that there was the an error that occurred when I burned Salix to cd?
Re: Problem with logging into different Window Manger
No, you didn't do anything wrong. Fluxbox is a slackware package and since slackware doesn't come with gdm, the package has no provision for a gdm menu entry. You can add one yourself by creating a /usr/share/xsessions/fluxbox.desktop file looking like this:
Code: Select all
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Type=XSession
Name=Fluxbox
Exec=/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.fluxbox

Thanks that did it.
