k3b -- no images/icons

Post by caitlyn »

I installed k3b from the repository and it does work. The icons/images are all missing, probably a missing dependency.

try kdebase-runtime

What really matters is where you are going, not where you come from.

Yep, that fixed it. That's your missing dependency.

It seems to be the missing dependency for all kde programs working with xfce only

It's not a dependency really. kdebase-runtime just includes the default icon set. You could probably have another kde icon set installed and if your kde settings pointed to that there would be no problem at all.

@gapan: Actually, no, it doesn't work with another icon set. I tried the tangoish package before I started this thread because I thought exactly the same thing you did. If I were maintaining the package I would add kdebase-runtime as a dependency.

Hmm... strange, I was certain it was that way, but it seems you are absolutely right. I have made kdebase-runtime a dependency of kdelibs, so that all kde apps get it. Thanks for the report! 8-)

By the way, we don't maintain k3b or kde packages in salix. We generally don't duplicate packages that are already provided by slackware. We just provide a dependency database for all slackware packages. It may not be perfect yet and we need input like yours to make it better.

An alternative icon set may not include all icons, so the default fallback icons should be in the system anyway ;)

Is it still supposed to be that way in Current? In current Kdelibs gets installed without kdebase-runtime.
