Ctrl + Alt + bksp alternative

Post by k-gee »

Hi,
just a quick note: the replacement you suggest for the ctrl+alt+bksp key combination in X11 does work. It is, however, not equivalent, as alt+prtsc+k kills the current session rather than the x server, and a lot of users wont be able to switch to a virtual terminal after using this key combination.

To get the exact behavior of ctrl+alt+bksp you have to re-map the "terminate" key using xkbmap or hal ( see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Config/DontZap for more information ).
Greetings

I'm not sure where we are suggesting that, but if it's in the wiki, please go ahead and make all the changes that you see fit. That's what the wiki is for anyway, anyone can post/edit! :)

And thanks for the tip.

some don`t trust Salix devs due to Ctrl+Alt+BS documentation on the wiki:

"dont trust the Salix developers is cause IMO it has been proven (to me) that they dont even know how Slackware works.":

Some are incredibly stupid. Nothing we can do about those. I actually know that user from other (Greek) forums. He's been doing everything possible to discredit me personally. He seems to be hating me for some reason. Well, as I said, some people as just incredibly stupid.

BTW: This is one of the reasons why I've wanted to have an own forum and not use linuxquestions: less trolls.

Well, we do what we want.
If the distro is used, then this could be considered usefull enough for me.
If they don't want to try it or use it, that's not my problem. As they said, they are tons of distro for any taste out there. They just have to pick one they like.
Fortunately you will not find any Salix developper here that will spoil a distro just for saying "mine is better". Did these people know what "different" means ?

Is a motorbike better than a bike ? In some situations yes. But you need gas. So in some situations a bike is better. (Sorry I'm not that good with comparisons.) Same for distro. Each has a a different purpose and different users.
