[SOLVED] Icons gone

XFCE-13.37 on HP-2133 Netbook

I tried suspend on this machine and could not wake it up since I do not know how and finally
restarted it.

When X opened the background and icons were gone.

I run xfdesktop which brought the background back, however, not the icons and I am
at a loss how to get them back.

Suggestion much appreciated on how to get the icons back by my good woman who owns the netbook.

Solved, indirectly. It was impossible for me to get the icons back on user. Made new user, copied files over from old home except any .file/.directory and things are working again.

When I made new user and copied new .files /.directory to old user home there were again no icons.
Did chown of course.

What could possibly have been broken in old user home?
